Well, I've decided that I like the one SMW style stage I made too much to not submit it for this contest, so now I'm tasking myself with coming up with 3 brand new stages (that don't turn out terrible) done in SMW style by November 1st.

A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS
Here is my entry for the Super Mario Maker VGDC CONTEST #1!
Hope you guys enjoy!
I focus around building fun levels, instead of just object vomiting and spamming everything. This might make the levels easy for Kaizo extremists though, but I want even the casual players to have fun with my levels!
The four levels are:
VGDC Land 1: BA86-0000-00B9-9F10
CAVE PIRANHAS VGDC: C0C5-0000-00B9-AD03
PARANORMAL VGDC: FB12-0000-00B9-A93A
VGDC BOSS BATTLE ROYALE: 6FED-0000-00B9-AC21
Enjoy!
Note: I suck at photo/image editing, so can't really make a cover
I can try but it wont be pretty!

Man, those P-switches on the first level got me.
I thought yours were pretty good with a bit of challenge too. I just wished they were longer, but that's just me.
Thanks for the feedback!
I would love to make really long levels, but the lack of save points really deters me from doing so. I've thought about making fake save points, such as hidden pipes that you only know about if you've progressed far enough to find the exit one, but I've found that they sometimes confuse the player and ruin their experience. Anyways, glad you enjoyed the levels

The only potential problem with that (especially if you require all 4 levels to be in the style of the same series) is Nintendo only allows for 10 courses to be uploaded at a time, unless they acquire 50 or more stars.
Heck, I found myself running into this problem even with you allowing premade courses. I already had 10 courses uploaded, but I didn't have 4 all of the same style (nor did I consider them good enough to win a contest). Luckily, 3 of my stages had no stars awarded to them, so I was able to pull those offline to start making replacement stages per the terms of the contest.
At the end of the day, it's your contest. You're the one generously awarding a more than decent prize. But asking people to potentially surrender their existing acquired stars is something you should probably keep in mind for future contests. It may, or may not, negatively affect the turnouts.
I did not reliese that, hmm that really sucks, god damn you nintendo.

I have alot of work to do on my entry still, but expect some Super Mario Bros 3 levels. I will begin to play the new entries just as soon as I finish Joe's!

This one was especially frustrating. I enjoyed your courses though. I think I liked the last one best.

How long is this contest because I can make a few stages. You gotta wait since I am still trying to get used to all the items and how things work, like making sub areas.

Funny, that's the opposite reaction I thought Fortress Of Deception would get from anyone.
On a side note, I only first realized the similarities between Towers Of Which There Are Thrice and Hotel Mario when I was basically finished building it.
