Gamestop had a tournament right before the midnight launch.
Winner gets free copy of the game.
I came in
2nd place. I don't get shit.
lololololololol not even mad.
I lost against a Reptile player who clearly had practice before the tournament. Heh whatever, but he still bled.
The majority of players in it clearly never played MK9 before except for the final dude, who dished out a corner trap combo on me a few times but I still 1 and 1 in matches and rounds against him until the last one during our "Best of 2/3".
Unfortunately the button registering, I dunno if controller or the console version itself, but it let me down most of the time. Playstation 4 mind you.
Still a bit playable but I feel so basic, like it feels like I'm playing MK9 online and can't do my combo strings, just only doing basic stuff. I know it sounds weird for me to say that when I never had practice in MKX, but I'm no stranger at all to how the mechanics work, if it's a bit different (which it slightly is), I can adjust very fast.
The controller design of the Playstation 4 is
NOT for Fighting games like this with it's shoulder buttons, someone already fucking got the Block button "sticking". Not something you want to experience during your very first match. And my X-Ray didn't register in one my matches on command on a different controller.
So again, I'm going to refer back to the corner trap I was placed in, couldn't even Enhanced my way out of it which would had gave me armor and fucked him.
With that said, I'm heavily curious to know how the Xbox One version feels.
Not sure if I like the run feature, it's weird that you have to hold block and hit forward forward, it's one button too many for me. And I think the wake up attacks have been changed.
Shit was awesome though. I did both of Kenshi's Fatalities and people where like "oooooooooh". Sadly it was against my friend. Yeah, me and my friend was pitted against each other due to some technical error in the bracket. If my friend never said anything to the host, we would had never got in.
Not all is lost though, my friend gave me his pre-order poster.
