With the casting, I thought it was more than obvious they're going to make this movie more campy than Nolan's work. Which, IMO, is perfectly fine. Probably going to try making this more like the comic books, which you normally can't go wrong with. The first picture of Leto's Joker confirms this, pretty much.
The only thing that really bothers me is the tattoos themselves (really, you got 'damaged' done on your forehead? That's like an angsty 15 year-old's idea of a tattoo). They seem to be more acquainted with Joker GANG MEMBERS, not Joker himself. Part of me thinks this is because I've seen shallow Joker fanatics get "HAHAHAHA" and even the smile tattoo'd on themselves.
Even so, I can look past that. It's possible, regarding Joker, they're going for Miller's All-Star Batman & Robin version of him. It goes unsaid that all eyes are on how they portray Joker, so I'm sure they know what they're doing.
I'm very much looking forward to the movie. This and Sinister Six makes me glad we're starting to get more villain-centric movies.

Meh, I'm not worried about the Joker look. People will get used to it, just like they got used to the Heath Ledger look when they first showed him, and I doubt that he's going to be shirtless through out the entire film, especially after all this bitching. I'm sure the actor will do a fine job. Long ago when the actor was first announced that he's doing the role, someone posted a clip of him in a film of him laughing maniacally. Oh yeah.

I don't mind the "HAHAHA" tattoos; if anything, I like to think the implication's that while getting them, he was so mobile/antsy they ended up looking like chicken scratch instead of a more proper font. That "damaged" one is crushingly bad, though. Still, don't mind him overall.

No surprise there.
More surprised how the public reacted to the image though. I mean, this is the same thing that happen with Heath Ledger but it was more acceptable back then. So why was this different? You would think people would remember the history of the Heath Ledger reveal and stick with the mindset "Wait until the movie release" ?
Like I said, I had no problem with the look, but then again, I still listen to Marilyn Manson and Insane Clown Posse, which I can totally understand the hate for the design.
