Ok, I know this for a new crowd but hell man they fucked it up.

First of all, when did they ever get super strength? If they didn't have their suits they were normal, but here they have super strength.
What's with "The Chronicle" bullshit? Zordon picked the people to be the power rangers, here they just find some alien stones and bam your are a power ranger!
The theme, is all gritty and generic where's the energy? The music, where's the guitar? 

That's it for now, I only watched this twice. Until they show another trailer, this is pretty much meh.

I'm upset because there is zero reason to take labels of the original Power Rangers other than to bait nostalgia fans like myself. Every fan of the oldschool has the right to bitch. The film has the same character names but different every fuckin' thing else. There are generation of Power Rangers through out the years, so why the fuck couldn't THIS be another different gen? No, instead, it's a reboot.

Out of all things, they couldn't keep the exact race diversity of the suits!?

The black kid is the blue ranger
The chinese man (dude is 28 lol wtf is this) is the black ranger
Mexican chick playing the yellow ranger

But the white people is fine though?

And who wants to bet that one of the characters is gay? Anybody? Anybody? C'mon, 2016's theme is almost over.

I already knew ever since we got news of the actress playing Rita that this wasn't going to "my" Power Rangers.
And lo and behold, debuting her outfit, she looks like Poison Ivy from Batman. It was fucked for me since day one.

Now comes the trailer, which I had no plans of watching but one of my friends forced me.
And it turns out, I've already saw this Power Rangers movie a few years ago.

Because it was damn near my fucking comic book idea I had as a teen, except the movie totally 1-upped it.


So the origin of this new Power Rangers reboot is literally Chronicle.

So many reboots these days...I think George Lucas said it best: in Hollywood, it's like really high stakes gambling. You're giving someone a hundred mil to make a movie, you want to be sure that the investment is going to turn a profit. Right now Hollywood is throwing money towards reboots because apparently everyone in the country is eating up nostalgia like it's going out of style, even though the style literally did years ago. I don't really understand why they're still doing it, making a modern reboot of an IP that was popular before 2000 doesn't guarantee profit at the box office (Ghostbusters).

As for the movie itself, I'm not really bothered by any of it (granted I stopped watching Power Rangers when I was 8 or so, probably why I don't remember much about how they're "supposed to be"), except for the fact that it feels like what weapon said: pandering. It could have been a totally new movie but calling it power rangers will get more people to see it.

Oh look, a dramatically reinvented take on stuff we liked growing up that totally betrays the spirit of what made the original so special. It's like TMNT, only if you were 5 years younger. By the way, not on board with this, much the same as with TMNT.
