VGDC Project: Arnie Goes to the Zoo. (Get in here!)

Hopefully I will go through with this project.

I'm hoping people of VGDC will help in on this project, which to me would be very crucial because I will shut this project down otherwise.
We have attempted to make an animation in the past, but the thing is, it's easy to come up with an idea, but executing is the hard part and of course we lack the animators as it is. I've dabble into flash animation over the past years. So I think I am ready and able.
In terms of coming up with a project, the hardest part is over, I will be the animator of this project.
I also see this as a test. If this project doesn't happen, then I think we can ever forget about trying to spark flame in the VGDC name outside of this forum. And plugging Let's Plays doesn't fly with the fans. Trust me, I've tested it out.

So what I need is help.
Unfortunately, my personal kryptonite is background designing. And to me, that will be the pillar of this animation.

I am also open to idea suggestions of the animation in question, but it doesn't mean I will auto-accept the idea.

I want to make a parody of the Cincinnati Zoo incident.
Kid gets into a pit at the zoo, where a Gorilla plays babysitter and snags the little mf'er around a few times. 
Eventually, the Gorilla gets shot.

Again, I suck at thinking up backgrounds, so I'm going to need help creating a Zoo-like mushroom kingdom environment.

Open up MSPaint or Photoshop, have fun. Put them Mario Maker skills into use.

I will look at the work and try to recreate the scenery in Flash, just supply the links to the sprites you used.

or hell, draw the fucking thing.

I will provide a script so you can get at least a slight idea of the scenes.




Update 3: 6.10.16



A big sign appears on the screen that reads Mushroom Kingdom Zoo.
The camera pans down to show a crowd of toads either admiring zoo cages or walking to the next attraction.
One scene shows a Toad walking up to a caged Dino-Torch. With an obvious 'Do Not Feed' sign right next to it, Toad pulls a berry from the ground and attempts to feed it.
The Dino-Torch screams at the Toad and it freaks out and runs away.
Camera fades and pans to two male gay couple and a retarded young toad named Arnie walking through.
Arnie sees a Hotdog vendor. Arnie cries out for hotdogs.
They walk to the hotdog vendor.
A butterfly flies by Arnie and catches his attention. Arnie quickly runs after the butterfly.

The camera pans to a scene of a Toad dumping snakes into a pit from a ladder?
Arnie runs by the ladder accidentally knocking it down and the Toad into the snake pit.



More shenanigans happen (need to think of more) and eventually Arnie slips away and finds a Gorilla pit.
Arnie falls down to meet Donkey Kong, sleeping next to his hoard of Bananas.
Arnie screams "Hi" and it awakens Donkey Kong.
The confused Donkey Kong looks around "Hey kid, what are you doing here?"
Arnie points to Donkey Kong's hoard of bananas.
"Is that what you here for? You want one?"
Donkey Kong gives a banana to Arnie who gulps it down and throws the peel to the ground giggling.
Arnie gets up and runs around Donkey Kong and he slips on his own peel. Arnie screams like a tard which startles Donkey Kong and grabs the attention of a bystander.
An onlooker Toad above and a far points and jumps up and down in excitement, which grabs the attention of other Toads around the area to come look.

The Toads are looking in shock, revealing one of them covering their mouth, Arnie runs around Donkey Kong and continues to scream like a tard but to the shocked audience, they strongly believe Donkey Kong is hurting Arnie.
Donkey Kong tries to persuade the audience "this isn't what it looks like!" but from the audience point of view, Donkey Kong is doing his beating chest call audio from the game.
Another child drops from above out of nowhere next to him.



Donkey Kong shouts "What the fuck is THIS!?"

A Toad shouts the audio from the video "Mommy loves you!" (or whatever it was)
Everyone looks at that Toad.

"Someone call for help!" - Toad bystander

Donkey Kong is becoming annoyed. "SO! You think I'm a monster!? HUH!? I'll SHOW YOU A MONSTER!" 
He grabs Arnie through the water and runs to the right side of the screen, quickly appears parts of the scaffolding of the Arcade Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong climbs up.

A 8-Bit Mario appears from a horizontal pipe. *Cue* the Donkey Kong level music.
Mario looks up. A thought bubble appears with Pauline in mind, but he instead sees Arnie. 
Donkey Kong sarcastically yells "Oooh, look at me! I'm a monster, ooooooh raaaaawr, I'm scary."
The thought bubble X Pauline and changes to a bag and out pops a Toad referencing "Your Princess is in another castle". 
Mario nopes the fuck out of there. 

Donkey Kong shouts to Mario "Where are you going!? Aren't you going to rescue this kid!?" "Someone please come get this kid!"

From a distance a sniper is in position readying his rifle.
In a gruff stereotypical action hero voice: "Just give me the word....and I'll tranq that monkey right to sleep."
A zoo keeper on his side argues with the marksmen, "A tranquilizer!? It's not fast enough you fool. It will agitate the Gorilla and get the boy killed! Put a bullet in that thing!" 
The marksman replies: "Reeelaaaaax, how could thousand of social media comments be wrong?" - referring to the people that think the Gorilla should've been tranq not killed.
"I'll do it myself!" shouts the Zoo Keeper.
The Zoo Keeper plugs one into Donkey Kong's head. He falls off the scaffolding.
*insert ROTMK style Funeral with Donkey Kong's friends*

So I'm going to stick with that.

I see that everyone's main highlight out of the video is the "Mommy loves you.." part.
So I'm going to add more to the idea post in the previous post in a minute.

And yes, make some background mock ups, based on the story I provided, please.

I feel like we need to simultaneously throw in a brief parody of the original Donkey Kong arcade game into the movie as well.

Basically something like DK runs off with Arnie and ascends some nearby scaffolding, then Mario shows up assuming he's saving another damsel in distress.  The Donkey Kong arcade game is parodied faithfully, and...I'm stuck on what should happen when Mario gets to the top and realizes it's Arnie.  I feel like there's a lot of potential, but I just can't quite put my finger on it.

I'm thinking something along the lines of "OH, SO YOU THINK I'M A MONSTE!? I'll SHOW YOU A MONSTER!" and then he grabs Arnie and from the side of the screen as he runs with him, you see the Arcade level and he goes up the scaffolding and shit.
Maybe Mario appears, looks up, a thought bubble appears with Pauline in mind, but he instead sees Arnie.

We're on to something here, Weapon.  I think we need to combine our ideas.

Mario doesn't look up the scaffold first before ascending it, so he thinks it's Pauline as he's climbing.  Meanwhile, the sniper is getting into position off in the distance as this is going on.  Mario gets to the top, realizes it's Arnie, and starts to leave.  But then it turns out DK doesn't want anything to do with Arnie any longer either, so he and Mario start arguing over who's going to take him.  The sniper takes his clear shot at DK just as Mario steps in front...and both Mario and DK are taken out.  The movie then ends with a ROTMK funeral scene parody for both Mario and DK...and of course, Arnie unintentionally ruins the funeral in some disturbing way.

Well, maybe we don't need the funeral bit, but not having it could be a missed opportunity, in terms of a running gag for the series (I'm assuming there will be more movies).

I won't use all of that, but I do LOVE the idea of a Donkey Kong version of the ROTMK funeral scene. Gonna edit the big post in a few mins.
