Basically these h3h3 guys made a video talking about Bold Guy, some parkour dude, and part of the video criticized Bold Guy. They used clips of Bold Guy's video while reacting/commenting on it and Bold Guy reported it as a copyright violation and launched the lawsuit.

Youtubers are rallying behind h3h3 saying their commentary and use of clips fall under Fair Use. Phillip DeFranco started a gofundme to help h3h3 with legal fees, and it's already past $100k in less than 24 hours. The money will go towards a Fair Use defense fund.

Bold Guy's channel is fucking BURNING to the ground right now, it got bombarded by h3h3 supporters.

Anyway, it's an open-shut case, or so it seems. Mainly because "they made fun of me" is not a good prosecution.

My one friend theorizes that this could lead to something harsh, and not from Bold Guy. Rather, from corporations;

"Court rules in favor of h3h3 because its common sense and establishes a ruling on it that can be referenced by other courts so there are fair use rulings for use on a private space, but if corporations like viacom and fox realize whats going on, they can lobby against them and come up with a case in order enforce the status quo. Right now, fair use doesn't mean much on youtube because it's a private corporations service and theres more likely than not a clause in the eula that states corporate partners like viacom have the right to use stuff with credit."

Still, I'm hoping the least this will do is change this automatic copyright claims and blind strikes. It's been proven time and time again that this shit is incompetent and used for fraudulent purposes. Recent example;
