Awful.
I'm considering making a review of it as a new part to my Retrospect, but I need to rewatch it (ugh) to see if I have enough to say about it.
Oh, you being a Dead Rising nut. I was hoping to read your thoughts about the film of a franchise you have knowledge of. Whether they did it justice or not.
Right of the bat though, I didn't get heavy into details of the film, such as cast and what not. But I saw the film not to long ago, and saw the protagonist, y'know, the one with the brown jacket. Immediately I thought he was Frank West. Looks just like the mofo, right? But I think it turns out that he had that style because he was inspired by Frank West.
Then you actually get to see the Frank West character in the film, who looks nothing like Frank West (imo). Whose a buffoon trying to sell a book. Is that really Frank West's persona?! Is he like that in the series?
The one thing I appreciated was the weapon cameos. Some signature weapons from the games were in the film, so at least that was fine. Otherwise, no. It did no justice. It was just another zombie movie. It was about as 'unique' as the 535 other zombie films that have been released in the past 20 years.
There's ways you can make a Dead Rising film that would simultaneously do it justice as well as help it stick out from the other zombie horseshit out there. But they didn't bother.
I think it was intentional to make that guy look like Frank West, . . . if he was 29 (he's 37 in the first game).
And, no. Frank West is nothing like that. Yeah, he's kind of arrogant, but he isn't like that at all. Rob Riggle is a funny dude, but his portrayal of Frank West was completely off. 0% of Frank's essence was in those scenes.
EDIT: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GOOD.
