Glad to hear things are well and you're stayin busy dustin (also glad to see that same old silent bob gif lol). I feel like we have similar relationship views. A year or two is a good amount of time before a serious relationship for sure. I was seeing a girl for the past year and I actually broke up with her this last weekend because I didn't see it really going anywhere, but que sera sera. I think it would be cool to have a mobile version of the chatbox, but I'd have to see the forum on my phone itself, because frankly I'm so used to seeing forums via desktop that I can't imaging making posts on it with my phone. Wouldn't be opposed to it though.
I guess I'll share a little bit about what I've been up to lately. I've been very busy with work and real life these recent years. Back when I was more involved in the forum I was living in Los Angeles and going to school to try and do game design, but the school I was going to was utter shit, and I realized that after being there for a year and a half. I was working a waiting job and felt it was impossible to afford the cost of living by working part time and going to school full time (not to mention add a shitload of debt to my life), so I cut my losses and left school. On the one hand, I did learn some valuable lessons through that whole experience. 1)If you want to pursue a career in an art field, learn how to research and work on your portfolio and hammer away at it as much as you can until you become stellar at it, and 2)Art schools are bullshit, and for the most part, I believe most colleges are now because from what I've experienced in the work field, you get good jobs more based on the people you know and the experience you have rather than what your degree shows. Though art school is much worse because some of the mandatory classes are completely worthless, although I did take some classes that were actually helpful in my career and some cool ones that I really enjoyed (I did one where we learned flash a long time ago, I think I still somewhat know the ropes but I just never have taken the free time to animate anything.....priorities and such)
Around 2012 things started looking up because I got hired at this vape shop in west l.a. and quit my serving job. It's a pretty cool gig, and I wound up busting my ass at it to the point where I became GM and became one of the bosses of the company. In 2014, I got the opportunity to open a new store, so I moved to Sacramento to do that and I've been here running it ever since, and just have been living life, been hitting the gym a lot recently too. Sac has grown on me a bit, L.A. was kind of starting to suck. Too expensive, too overcrowded and trafficy, too cut-throat competitive.
I never did get back into game design because up until last December, I haven't had my own pc since like, 2006 (been using the same macbookpro for 6 years now, can't make games on that thing). But in Dec. I spent like 3k at newegg to get a fucking amazing rig, and during the steam holiday sale I bought a shitload of games to get myself back into gaming with a PC, so I want to spend some time playing some games for inspiration and see where to go from there.
Also, Damn weapon....that di-sektor vid was nuts
