SMW or M&L SS sprites? - Sir_Warrier1 - 05-07-2017

It's been a long time since I came to these forums, a lot has changed and it seems to be pretty dead unfortunately. I have a question though that I can't ask anywhere else. I'm working on a project and my intent was to use SMW sprites, but the more I search for sprites, the more M&L SS sprites I find for Mario and Luigi. Thing is, SS doesn't fit the art/color scheme SMW/SMAS sprites that I have for back/foreground sprites. I have a ton of SMW sprites but the vast majority of SS sprites are oh-so-tempting. Should I stick with searching for more SMW sprites or say "to hell with it" and jump ship to the SS sprites?

I say it probably depends on whether or not you want to customize the sprites or not.  If you can work with pixel art, you can use the smw sprites and make different expressions or customize the sprites in other ways (since there aren't that many sprites to work with and there aren't a whole lot of pixels in those sprites compared to SS).  But if you just want to copy the sprites over and not tinker around with the graphics then I'd say go for SS.

Thanks brother, good advice. I'm no good at editing sprites, so it looks like I'll be going with SS

I'm not too sure but it also seems like you can't find any Super Mario World Mario and Luigi sprites, so just in case you didn't know

https://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/smarioworld/

My opinion? I say stick within the source as much as possible unless it can't be help. So basically, SMW backgrounds accompanied by SMW character sprites. But at the same time, I personally haven't played that other game you mention to even imagine if the sprites would fit with SMW backgrounds or not.

Ever seen that Super Mario Bros. Z flash animation?  That's M&L:SS sprites (Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga)

I used to know that guy back in the day. Cool dude. With his works I know it's possible to use the SS sprites, but I'm still on the fence of which to use.
